Continuing in the vein of Genius Loci North, this song celebrates the beauty in nature and encourages greater awareness of wildlife. It is the first release in the upcoming song collection.

This track was composed on site in one take and then transformed slightly with digital tools with the aim of capturing both the spirit of place and the inner dialogue it inspires.

after my nap, in the late afternoon
someone is beside me in spirit
as I gently wake, I gently wake
I gently wake

dreams of creatures of the wild
with extraordinary talents
all those individual character fraits
we never think they have
(such a clever mouse
such a talented bird)
with a flock of geese or a
murder of crows
(are all crows the same?
they're not all the same)

The mountain laurel
floats on the steel water
the threads of cotton deer grass
tangle under my foot
I'll listen for the siren song of the lake
the mermaids must have
a thing or two to share
a verse that only the chipmunk knows
as he swims from shore to shore

the white throated sparrows
are tireless here
like a three pointed symphony
with a variation now and then
they paddle silently or stop to drift
as I lurk behind the pines
requests, laments, words
tumble forth and someone
Is artfully keeping score
